Rakuten Kobo has eventually launched its Kobo Plus subscription to the U.S. and U.K. markets allowing readers unlimited access to more than 1.3 million ebooks and over 100,000 audiobooks. A Kobo Plus subscription is cheaper than Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited or Audible, making it much more cost-effective to read or listen to your favourite ebooks. Kobo Plus allows you to sign up for just reading ebooks or just listening to audiobooks or you can subscribe to both. Kobo also offers over 1 million free ebooks.
Kobo Plus Read $7.99/£8.99
Kobo Plus Listen $7.99/£8.99
Kobo Plus Read & Listen $9.99/£11.99
Kobo Plus subscription competes with Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited subscription service, which will set you back $9.99/£9.49 a month, and Audible which will cost you $14.95/£7.99.
Readers can easily sign up via the Kobo app, available on both IOS and Android, or subscribe to the plan on their Kobo e-readers. One major benefit of signing up for Kobo Plus rather than Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited plan is that you can download as many ebooks from the library as you wish, you are not limited to borrowing up to 10 ebooks like Kindle Unlimited. But bear in mind, you don’t own the ebooks, so if you cancel your subscription to Kobo Plus, you won’t be able to access your downloaded books.
Why Should You Subscribe To Kobo Plus
If you already use a Kobo e-reader
The Kobo e-reader was designed for the sole purpose of reading books, so being able to access Kobo Plus on your device is a huge benefit and if you have Bluetooth on your device, you can listen to audiobooks too via the Kobo Plus Listen or Kobo Plus Read & Listen subscriptions.
If you are an avid reader
A single ebook may cost you as much as a month’s subscription from Kobo, so if you read quite a lot of books a month, then a Kobo plus subscription is way more cost-effective.
If you love crime, thrillers, and romance
There’s a huge selection of ebooks to choose from in the crime, thrillers, and romance genres that will keep you entertained for years.
Rakuten Kobo Plus is also available in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Italy, France, and The Netherlands. Now it is available in the United States and the United Kingdom Kobo Plus subscription service will compete with other unlimited services such as Scribd, Amazon Kindle Unlimited, Audible, and Amazon Prime Reading.
